Why koralli?

I believe interdisciplinary teams have a unique advantage for developing layered and insightful approaches to complex problems, so I was immediately intrigued when I first heard about koralli’s methodology. Complex problems require carefully thought out solutions, and should be built with the wider environment in mind at each step. My previous experiences in interdisciplinary teams have helped enormously with my own development as a researcher, so koralli seemed a great fit. 

My Skills

During my DPhil I have developed independent research skills, including critical analysis of state of the art techniques, data curation, and project design. I have built and trained models for use in both vision and language analysis, with a focus on segmentation in medical imaging. My programming language experience includes Python, Javascript, and C#, though I am adept at learning new languages as required.

I enjoy presenting research and have taken part in numerous events, having won awards at the London Hopper Colloquium and the Oxford Computer Science Conference for lightning talks. Previously I have also worked as a freelance web and graphic designer, and have developed skills in HTML, CSS, and data visualisation to complement this. 

My Expertise

I have an integrated Masters in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, and am now completing a DPhil in Computer Science. My research is primarily in computer vision for medical imaging, focusing on utilising annotation uncertainty in image segmentation. Broader areas of expertise include analysis of AI methods, dataset curation, and computational geometry.

My Experience

During my DPhil I have presented research at a number of high-impact conferences such as CVPR and ICCV. I have collaborated with research groups both locally and internationally, and am always eager to learn from new perspectives. Though my recent experience has been in the medical domain, I have also collaborated with researchers from the Oxford Law Faculty on the impact of AI in trademark law. 

In 2022 I co-founded the carbon capture startup Cequestre, winning the StEP Ignite Student Entrepreneurship Programme. Our inter-disciplinary team developed a novel chemical process into a strategic technology ready for investment, utilising a wide range of experience and skills.

I have taught the Computer Graphics course at Oxford for several years, and have enjoyed learning how to effectively communicate and develop ideas in a classroom environment. Outside of my professional life I engage frequently in university sport, playing on the women’s Varsity teams for both TaeKwon-Do and Ice Hockey. I was a member of the executive committee for the university ice hockey club for three years, and helped to develop it into one of the largest and most successful clubs in the UK.
